Nagoya station: Piyorin Morning Plate at Piyorin STATION Cafe gentiane (ぴよりんカフェ)

AICHI (Nagoya etc)

Piyorin STATION Cafe gentiane always has the longest line at Nagoya Station. Piyorin is a chick-shaped pudding cake, and that’s what they sell here.

People gather to get Piyorin throughout business hours. I visited for breakfast on a weekday morning, thinking there might be fewer people since it was a weekday. However, there were still 5-6 groups waiting in line. The cafe is conveniently located near the Shinkansen ticket gates.

They serve Piyorin three times a day: at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 5 p.m. It sells out within an hour each time, and people keep coming back for the next round. However, you can enjoy Piyorin at any time while dining in the cafe.

This is the breakfast menu, available from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Piyorin Morning Plate (ぴよりんモーニングプレート) includes one Piyorin. When I visited, everyone ordered it. It seems like you don’t have to wait long for other items here.

Here’s another look at their menu.

There are about 40 seats, including tables for two and four people, as well as some counter seating. The poles are decorated with Piyorin designs—super cute!

Of course, I ordered the Piyorin Morning Plate. It came with bread, yogurt, salad, and, of course, Piyorin, all served on a wooden tray.

The bread was especially cute with a branded iron mark of Piyorin! It was one of eight slices of bread, thin, and while the bread was decent, it wasn’t extraordinary.

And here is Piyorin. This was my first time seeing it up close, and it was so soft. I gently shook the dish, and Piyorin shook with it. It’s hard to bring it home because it’s so soft, and I didn’t even need my teeth to eat it—it just melted in my mouth. It’s made with eggs from Nagoya Cochin chicken. They pride themselves on both its appearance and taste, and yes, it’s delicious.

I ordered a blended coffee to go with my meal. For an extra ¥200, you can get Piyorin-shaped sugar to add to your coffee, but I opted for the simple sugar.

don’t think this set is expensive, especially since it includes Piyorin (which costs about ¥400), so I highly recommend enjoying a Nagoya-style breakfast with Piyorin while you’re there.🐤
