I arrived in Nagoya early in the morning to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. After getting off at Takaoka Station, I headed to BON BON (ボンボン). This long-established confectionery shop also features a spacious café. On a weekday morning, the café was filled with local patrons enjoying their breakfast. The Takaoka area, with its many morning cafés, offers a calm and peaceful atmosphere compared to the bustling Nagoya Station area. If you prefer a quieter start to your day, Takaoka is an excellent choice.
The interior is simple and welcoming, with most tables accommodating four chairs.
Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. When you order a drink, it comes with complimentary buttered toast and a boiled egg. Additional toppings like jam, yogurt, red bean paste, or a mini salad can be added for 100 yen each.
The café also offers desserts and cakes in the morning.
While I didn’t get to see the cakes in person, the photos on the menu looked enticing and made me excited to try them next time.
I ordered a blended coffee (ブレンドコーヒー / 360 yen). The staff kindly asked if I wanted the “morning set,” and of course, I said, “Yes, please!” Some customers opted out, though.
The toast was thinly sliced, buttered, and toasted to perfection – simple but delicious.
The coffee had a refreshing flavor, perfect for waking up in the morning.
Since it was a weekday, most customers were locals, creating a relaxed and calm atmosphere. However, weekends tend to attract many tourists. If you’re looking for a peaceful experience, weekdays are definitely the way to go.
