Nishimura (にし邑) is a long-established tonkatsu restaurant and they are open on weekdays only. I love their tonkatsu. Tonkatsu is heavy for me, so I can’t eat it at night. So, I visited there at lunchtime.
They have counter seats only. The space at the back of seats is very narrow. There’re about 3-4 staffs in the kitchen and they work efficiently.
There’re seasonings on the table. The white thing is dressing for cabbage. And tonkatsu sauce, soy sauce, mayonnaise, mustard.I love Nishimura because they put mustard in a pot. I use much mustard !
Menu. Tonkatsu menu. Basically they prepare tonkatsu set only. They don’t have tonkatsu without rice on the menu.
And another, they serve some foods on the blackboard suitable for alcoholic drinks at dinner time. Potato salads, deep frieds foods and so on.
And drinks. But they said they have beer only at lunchtime.
I ordered superior loin cutlet set this time. It have much shredded cabbage, rice, pickles and pork soup (tonjiru). “上” set have rock salt in special. They recommend we eat those tonkatsu with the salt.
Umm. Tonkatsu is larger and overflow or cabbage is much and it’s driven away at the end ? Yes. Both !
They offer free refills of cabbage. You can have large helping of cabbage when you order, too.
Its coating was crisp and the meat was unexpectedly not so fatty. The fat was light.So, I could eat it with easily. They fried meats deeply at a low temperature. The section of the meat was slightly pink.
I felt the sweetness of the meat with rock salt. It went with mustard too. I think it’s valuable !
And I liked their pork soup. To tell the truth, many tonkatsu restaurant serve fatty pork soup. I don’t like it. But their pork soup was not so fatty. But it had abundant extract of pork. I wanted to have second helping of the soup (200yen)
It’s toooo much for me. I took much time to eat it up. Though I got to there just after the opening time, person next to me changed two times :p I heard they serve furofuki daikon at dinner time. So, I want to try dinner, too !
