Tokyo: Affordable & Flavorful Sanuki Udon at Goro (純手打ち讃岐うどん 五郎) in Kinshicho

Tokyo

Recently, new Sanuki udon shops have been opening in Tokyo one after another. We visited one of them, Goro (純手打ち讃岐うどん 五郎) in Kinshicho area the other day. This place is already quite popular. When we arrived near closing time, there were still many people waiting.

The menu is straightforward. All udon dishes come in two sizes: large and small. The prices are quite reasonable.

Bukkake udon is served cold with a soy sauce-based broth. The noodles had a pleasantly springy texture, thanks to the high-quality flour sourced from Kagawa Prefecture.

Bukkake udon – small (ぶっかけうどん 小) 350 yen

Hiya-Atsu udon consists of cold noodles in a hot broth. The temperature was just right for me. The broth, rich with dried bonito extract, was incredibly flavorful. Since the noodles are served in hot soup, they were softer than the bukkake udon.
