[Tsukiji] First bonito and octopus at Hajime Sengyoten (はじめ鮮魚店)

Tokyo

Now is already muggy all day, but I managed to go to Hajime Sengyoten (はじめ鮮魚店) for lunch. Well, I don’t feel like going out for another shop under such a brazing sun. That day, they we needed to choice two from five ingredients. I don’t like it. I can’t decide only two !
I want to eat all !

Pacific bluefin of tuna, wild-grown yellowtail from Kanagawa, bonito from Katsuura, sea urchin from Northern territories and octopus from Okayama.

Anyway, I decided to eat octopus before entering the shop because I hadn’t eaten octopus at this shop’s lunchtime. At first, I picked my small dish and pickled vegetables. We have to pick one small dish and tea by ourselves. Mostly there are two or three kinds of small dishes. I usually pick the closest dish, but I like ”Ika Ninjin” very much. So I picked it though it was a little bit far from me.

Ika Ninjin is squid and carrots dressed with soy sauce seasoning. It is local food of Fukushima prefecture. It is simple but really tasty 🙂

After a while, my sashimi bowl came with wakame soup. I chose octopus and first bonito after all.

Octopus. It was fresh, but I think it didn’t good for sashimi bowl. Yeah. I think it went with sake well 😛

First bonito. This pink bonito was so fatty as you see. Bonito caught in spring to early summer is called first bonito (hatsu gatsuo = 初がつお).

Hajime Sengyoten is far from Harumi street in front of gate of Tsukiji Market. And there are no seats. We have to stand up while eating. So, there are not much people even at weekdays’ lunchtime. But its quality is very high. I recommend this shop at lunchtime if Tsukiji main area is fully packed.
