I’m a explorer of Tsukiji. I found there’s a new restaurant at the back of the street. Their name is Hashiba (はしば). It seems they are fancy Japanese cuisine restaurant. But they are open at lunchtime and serve sashimi bowl. So, I tried this time. Harumi Street is comparatively busy street. But its side roads are calm.
At lunchtime, they serve
* Assorted sashimi bowl (鮮魚丼, 1500 yen)
* Marinated tuna bowl (まぐろの漬け丼, 1200 yen)
And sometime they serve special one and I know they served horse mackerel bowl the other day. When I got to there around 1:30 p.m., there was no guests.
I ordered marinated tuna bowl. It is “tuna bowl” but it have boiled young sardines dressed with sesame sauce, mekabu seaweed, tamagoyaki and firefly squid was on it ! FIREFLY SQUID ! I love it !
I hadn’t seen such a combination. But those were good. And I could enjoy some tastes in this bowl. Especially, sesame sauce and marinated tuna was funny ! The amount of rice was not much. It was good size for me. I think most of sashimi bowl have too much rice !
By the way, they are open as bakery and cafe at two times in every months on weekends. They sell their own made breads named “Wapan”, and guests can eat it in the “bakery and cafe”. I want to try it. The chef trained in New York for 15 years. Perhaps Japanese cuisine is not his specialty.

Me,too. Especially hotaru ika can be eaten just this season. So, it’s precious bowl 😉
I dream of visiting Tsukiji someday! If I ever get to travel to Japan…. 🙂 This sounds like it was a delicious “investigation” of yours! Thank you for sharing it.
