This time, I stayed at Hotel Resol Hakodate (ホテルリソル函館) in Hakodate. It’s right next to the Comfort Hotel Hakodate, where I stayed before. Though it’s an older hotel, it’s quite solid and spacious, with facilities like a gym, a bar, and even a squash court.
When I travel to Hakodate, I always buy a package that includes both flights and accommodation. For 2 nights with no meals and a round-trip JAL ticket from Haneda to Hakodate, it cost 25,000 yen. A single night without meals generally costs about 4,000–5,000 yen on weekdays.
The bar on the 10th floor is available to both guests and non-guests!
It’s located right next to Hakodate Ekimae Station on the Hakodate City Tram, with the morning market nearby.
Just to the right as you enter the hotel, there’s a lounge-like area called the Living Lobby, which you can use until 10 PM.
It has a coffee machine and offers free coffee, tea, and herbal tea (in tea bags). There’s also a microwave available for use.
You are welcome to bring drinks to your room!
The guestroom floors are on the 4th to 9th floors, and the hallways are kept clean.
There are alcohol sanitizers placed near the elevators.
The hotel calls its single rooms “Modallet Rooms,” which are slightly larger than standard single rooms at 15㎡. The room uses a key card for access, and upon entering, the slippers are conveniently placed right by the door. Many hotels store slippers in shelves or pack them in bags, which can be a bit bothersome, so I appreciated this small touch.
The bed is spacious and comfortable. Some rooms offer a sea view, but since my room was on a lower floor, I could only see the street below and the passing trams.
TV, Refrigerator, Kettle, Glasses & Teacups, and Tea Bags. They also provided pajamas, which were surprisingly comfortable.
The amenities included all the essentials, such as toothbrushes and razors. There were even bath salts. If you decline cleaning services from the second night onward, they will hang a bag containing fresh towels, amenities, and tea bags on your room door.
I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel this time, but normally, it’s served buffet-style with delicious options like squid sashimi and squid tentacle curry (Website). Since the hotel is right next to the morning market, having breakfast there is also highly recommended!
