Founded in 1938 in Beverly Hills, California, Lawry’s The Prime Rib now has several branches in Japan. While there’s also a location in Ebisu Garden Place, I recently visited the Akasaka branch.
For those unfamiliar with the term, prime rib refers to beef ribs and is essentially an American-style roast beef. At Lawry’s, this signature dish is carved right in front of your seat and plated on the spot.
Lawry’s Akasaka is located on the third floor of Akasaka Intercity. The nearest stations are Tameike-sanno Station and Kokkai-gijidomae Station (connected). If you’re coming from the Kokkai-gijidomae side, keep in mind that you may encounter detours due to nearby police blockades. For smoother access, I recommend using the Tameike-sanno Station exit.
Here’s the weekend lunch menu. Apologies for the blurry image! On the left is the Salad & Dessert Bar Lunch, while the right offers a plated course meal with a pre-arranged salad and dessert. I highly recommend the Salad & Dessert Bar option for its unlimited time—perfect for a leisurely meal.
Drinks: Beer starts at ¥850.
Prices are subject to change, so please check the official website for the latest information.
This unlimited bar offers a wide variety of salads and desserts. The selection includes unique ingredients like quinoa and guacamole, which you don’t typically find in a standard buffet. Everything looks so enticing!
The desserts are small in size, making it easy to sample a little of everything.
Bread: Unlimited refills! The soft and fluffy bread is so delicious—but try not to overindulge.
The Prime Rib set with the Salad & Dessert Bar allows you to choose the size of your meat from six options. I opted for the Tokyo Cut (120g, ¥6,000), the second smallest portion. Though the servers don’t weigh it precisely, my serving felt closer to 150g!
The beef was incredibly tender, and the sides, including creamed spinach, creamed corn, mashed potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding, were equally delightful.
If you’re looking for a luxurious lunch or dinner with a classic American flair, Lawry’s The Prime Rib in Akasaka won’t disappoint!
