Nagoya: Explore the Charms of Chubu Centrair International Airport – Lounge Perks & Scenic Deck

AICHI (Nagoya etc)

When traveling from Tokyo to Nagoya, it’s almost inevitable to take the Shinkansen. The Shinkansen is incredibly convenient! Because of this, I had always dreamed of visiting Chubu Centrair International Airport (Centrair). I thought, “Someday, I want to go there!” and that “someday” finally became a reality. I used Centrair when traveling from Nagoya to Fukuoka. It was about 1,000 yen one way from Nagoya by Meitetsu Line.

Centrair is a great place with official shops and restaurants where you can enjoy Nagoya’s famous local foods! What really surprised me was the lounge you can enter with a gold card, where alcohol is all-you-can-drink! How many domestic airport lounges in Japan offer something like that? You can even pour your own beer 💜

At Centrair, there are Iga Ninjas displayed above the check-in counters, which adds to the fun atmosphere 🎵. Centrair opened in 2005 and is still very clean and modern. It handles both domestic and international flights, making it a very convenient airport.

Additionally, the wood deck is amazing. It’s 300 meters long, and from here, you can see airplanes. The space is very open, and since it’s outside the restricted area, it’s just about an hour from Nagoya Station. Even if you’re not flying, it’s the perfect place to visit for a day out. I also heard you can ride a Segway on the deck!

Below the wood deck, there’s a mysterious space with chairs where you can relax.

After a quick tour of the airport, I found some interesting facilities: there’s a bathing facility called “Kaze no Yu” and an exhibition called “Flight of Dreams,” where a B787 aircraft is on display. Next time, I want to spend more time at Centrair… but of course, I still want to visit the lounge again.
