Sun Way Bean pudding (杉味豆花) relocated near Shuanglian Station from Yan San Night Market in 2018. I knew they had moved but didn’t know their exact location. It turns out I usually walk right past the shop on my way to Ningxia Night Market from the station without realizing it.
Their menu doesn’t include shaved ice, but they offer almond jelly, douhua (soybean pudding), green bean soup (summer), peanut soup (summer), red bean soup (winter), baked grass jelly (winter), and more. Most toppings cost 10 TWD each, while some, like taro and sweet potato, cost 15 TWD.
The interior has a nostalgic feel, but the space has been renovated, making it clean and tidy. The shop has around 20 seats.
I ordered douhua with two toppings, which cost 60 TWD. You can add more toppings for an additional fee. I chose aiyu jelly and taro balls. They asked if I wanted ice, and of course, I did—given the hot weather!
The douhua was incredibly fluffy with a rich soybean flavor. The syrup was just sweet enough—perfect. Their douhua is famous for its slight burnt aroma, but I couldn’t detect it this time.
The aiyu jelly was delightful. I’m a big fan of its unique texture and taste.
The taro balls were incredibly springy—what’s known as “QQ” texture in Taiwan. Yes, they were perfectly QQ! With a long-standing reputation, it’s easy to see why this shop remains popular.
