After visiting Longshan Temple, I went to have noodles at a place called 陳記腸蚵專業麵線. It’s open from 6:30 AM. You can eat in or take it out. Although there are a few tables inside, the space is very narrow and uncomfortable, so most people eat at the tables outside on the street. Many customers also opt for TO GO. It’s located near Longshan Temple, though it’s a bit of a walk.
The menu here is strictly noodles. How straightforward! The oyster noodles and pork giblet noodles are served in a large bowl for 75 NT or a small bowl for 55 NT. There’s also a combo noodle soup with both oysters and large intestine. The plain noodle soup (清麵線 / 35 NT) contains neither oysters nor pork giblet.
I ordered the Combo Noodle Soup. The bowl was small, but there was a generous amount of noodles inside, and it felt even more substantial than it looked. The noodles were almost overflowing! Taiwanese basil was sprinkled on top.
The oysters in this dish were larger than those I’ve had in other noodle soups. They had a rich flavor that stood out in the broth.
The giblets, braised to a brown color, was also tender and juicy. The broth wasn’t overly strong with bonito flavor but had a gentle, well-balanced taste. For those who want extra spice, there’s chili paste, and for more richness, vinegar is available on the table. I found it delicious as is, but if you like spicy food, you may be tempted to add chili paste.
This was the most memorable bowl of noodles I’ve ever had! It’s now a dish I want to eat every time I visit Taipei.
