After visiting Shitennoji Temple, we headed to Takoyaki Yamachan Honten (たこ焼き やまちゃん 本店) located near Abeno Harukas. Yamachan is known as one of the most popular takoyaki shops in Osaka. When we arrived, there was already a long line of people waiting, which speaks to its popularity.
We ordered a plate of takoyaki to share. It came with 8 pieces and cost just ¥350. The takoyaki was incredibly hot—but absolutely delicious! Compared to other takoyaki shops I’ve tried, especially in Osaka, Yamachan’s takoyaki was notably soft. Coming from Kanto region, where I was only familiar with Gindako’s crispier style, this was a pleasant surprise.
The price also stood out to me. In Kanto, takoyaki typically costs around ¥500, but here in Osaka, the birthplace of takoyaki, it’s not only affordable but also incredibly tasty!
